Psychology Scholarship

Amount: $1,000 - $5,000 Per Year

Eligibility: High School Seniors and Transfer Students

Application available: August 1
Deadline to apply: December 1
Last day to interview (in person or online): December 15

Students who have applied to ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøallas with an interest in studying Psychology may compete for the award. 

Students are not necessarily required to major in Psychology to receive or maintain the scholarship. Departmental scholarships are applied to tuition. A departmental scholarship may not be added on top of a full-tuition scholarship. Each student may apply for up to two departmental scholarship awards but may only receive one. To Apply for the Psychology Departmental Scholarship, you must:

  1. .
  2. Complete the  and attach any supplemental material to the online application OR email to admissions@udallas.edu.
  3. Read the provided excerpt from  and write a short essay (400-600 words) answering the following prompt: "Reflect on the meaning of Psychology as a discipline both subjectively and objectively. Draw from your own curiosity and interest in the discipline to illustrate how these two ways of tackling the subject matter shed limited light -  each with their own strengths and weaknesses - on this problem in psychology.â€
  4. Submit a Letter of Recommendation from a high school teacher or college psychology professor. If you've taken AP Psychology, please ask your AP teacher for a recommendation (preferred).
  5. Once you have completed your you will be instructed on how to schedule an interview with the Psychology Department. Applicants should be prepared for an oral interview.

Renewability Criteria:

The is renewable annually for four consecutive school years, dependent upon the student's academic performance and the criteria stated below:

  1. Fulfill general scholarship renewal criteria.
  2.  Successfully complete* both Foundations of Psychology as a Human Science and General Psychology by the end of sophomore year.     
                      - PSY 1311 and PSY 2313

  3. Successfully complete* the following courses in Psychology by the end of senior year:
                      - PSY 3330 History of Psychology
                      - Two upper level elective psychology courses of your choice (3000 or higher)

    * Successful completion means earning a grade of C minus or better
