Economics Scholarship

Amount: $1,000 - $5,000 Per Year

Eligibility: High School Seniors and Transfer Students

Students who have applied to ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøallas with an interest in studying Economics may compete for the award. 

Students are required to major in Economics to qualify for the scholarship. Departmental scholarships are applied to tuition. A departmental scholarship may not be added on top of a full-tuition scholarship. Each student may apply for up to two departmental scholarship awards but may only receive one. To Apply for the Economics Department Scholarship, you must:

  2. Complete the  and submit at least two weeks prior to your campus visit and interview. Attach any supplemental material to the online application OR email to admissions@udallas.edu.
      1. Submit the  from your high school or college professor.
      2. Submit two short essays  (400-500 words) answering these questions:
        "What role does knowledge of Economics play in a free society?†and
        “Why do you think you should receive the Economics scholarship?â€
      3. Submit a letter of recommendation from a high school or college instructor. (It can be from a different field if you have not taken Economics yet.)
  3. Once you have completed your  you will be instructed on how to schedule an interview with the Economics Department. Applicants should be prepared for an oral interview.

Renewability Criteria:

The is renewable annually for four consecutive school years, dependent upon the student's academic performance and the criteria stated below:

  1. Fulfill general scholarship renewal criteria.
  2.  Successfully complete the following economics courses:
    * Fundamentals of Economics by the end of freshman year
    * Three upper level economics courses (3000 level and above), one of which must be the History of Economic Thought (ECO 4325).

  3. Be an active member of the Economics club.

    Note: If students later change their major in their second or third year, they may retain the scholarship if they maintain the eligibility criteria.
